The subject of this site, and how it is funded
ScaleVerdict is an independent editorial site about scale models — what is built piece by piece: aircraft, armor, ship, car, mecha, wooden and metal kits and book nook kits — what paints them: airbrushes, compressors, starter sets and spray booths, with their nozzles, cleaners and thinners — the paint itself: acrylics, metallics, paint sets, primers, varnishes, spray paints and chrome markers — what applies it: brushes, wet palettes, painting handles and painting stands — what opens and shapes a kit: sprue cutters, hobby knives, tweezers, abrasives, pin vices, clamps and masking tape — what joins and fills it: plastic cement, superglue, filler and epoxy putty — what is added to it: decals and photo-etch tools — what it stands in: model grass, trees, LEDs, display cases and miniature bases. It does not cover resin or filament printers, rotary tools or bench vices, which are covered elsewhere; nor model railway track and locomotives; nor bricks that come apart again; nor finished die-cast collectables. Scales, parts counts, finished lengths, nozzle diameters, working pressures, volumes, grit numbers, base diameters, age marks, pack weights and stated capacities published by manufacturers are reported as such, with their unit written as published, with their source named, and never derived by us. In particular, a scale and a finished length are reported as the two different things they are, and the first is never presented as the second. Nothing here replaces a manufacturer's own instructions, the hazard label on a glue or a thinner, the standard printed on a carton, or the rules where you live — and two statements are repeated on every page that touches them: a published figure describes a product measured against an assumed user, and is never presented here as advice about what a particular modeller needs; and no glue, no thinner, no primer, no aerosol and no spray booth is described on this site as making anything safe. It is funded by Amazon affiliate links: a purchase made after following one of our links may earn us a commission, at no additional cost to you. How that works, and what stops it from steering our verdicts, is set out on the affiliate disclosure page.
Each order of a family and each recommendation here is an editorial judgment about model kits and the paint, glue, abrasives and spares that pass through them. None of it is professional advice — not technical, not regulatory, not safety advice — and none of it undertakes any outcome on any particular model or at any particular bench.
